Olympic Closing Ceremonies

Post by John T Mainer on Sun Feb 28, 2010 11:45 pm

“I’m proud to be Canadian, to come from a country where an Olympian can
have four beers and pronounce “The straits of Juan de Fuca” without
getting censored.”
William Shatner, Vancouver 2010 Olympic closing ceremonies

As wonderful as our opening ceremonies were, the closing was infinitely
more Canadian. My daughters dance studio furnished some of the dancers
for this performance (sadly mine were all too young).

Who else but Canada would take a snafu from the opening (the one arm of the caldron), and make it part of the closing? It is not enough to host, it is not enough to win, you must remember to laugh as well.

I didn’t get a chance to see either the opening, or closing ceremonies, but I did see on the news this morning the Canadian win in men’s Hockey.
Congratulations!

He played Whole Lotta Love with Leona Lewis, just in case you missed it.
i think it was his best performance of that song's solo since about 1977.
