My Introduction

Post by redheadedmomma on Mon Feb 22, 2010 9:21 am

Hi All,

I found this site from giliflower on B'net. I only posted a couple of times there under a diffrent name, Fraserlover.

There is to much hate going on over there, I'd though I'd try this site out. I used to be really conservative but have mellowed out alot since I've had my children, both of who have special needs. I just don't believe in original sin anymore. I love to read and I love genealogy. I have one line of my family tree traced back to Scotland to the year 1028. Another two lines to Ireland in the 1700's. I also love nature and believe that God shows him/herself in creation. I've been studying celtic christianity and just started looking into the ancient religion of of the celt's. Maybe I can get some more info on ancient religion traditions of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales from some of you here.

Have a great day!

Hi RHM! You sound really interesting.

I'm of Irish and English decent. Gillyflower is big into genealogy.

I'm from the Asheville area of NC...grew up quite fundie and conservative but have also mellowed out. I dig the Celtic stuff and also enjoy the Christianity that came out of Ireland once it meshed with the older Celtic paths.

We have our occasional spats here, because all forums do that once in awhile, but we don't breed hatred. We have a few threads that talk about what we're about here so check them out.

Anyway... hope to get to know ya. Make yerself at home.

Hmm...other useful info... Once you log in to the forum, you can click "view unread posts" at the top left and that's how I navigate the forum when looking for recently active threads.

Welcome aboard, redheadedmomma. I'm a Soto zen Buddhist, but I happen to think Jesus is pretty cool, too. I'd love to learn more about Celtic Christianity, so if you or TED want to start a thread to discuss that (or direct me to a thread or web site already established) I'd be appreciative.

There are a lot of Bnet refugees here. Welcome indeed to a saner place.

Yep, another B-net transplant myself.

Good to have you with us, RHM. Hope you decide to stick around.

Quite a few of us are into non-traditional religions; some of us, like me, have cobbled together beliefs that are satisfying from this-that-and-tother. Any way you look at it, you'll find people who will answer your questions and maybe "discuss intensely" on the debate threads if you care to venture onto those.

As TED said above, however, we're pretty laid back and lowkey. We occasionally get irritated with each other but often settle it among ourselves without needing mods/admins to do their police thingy. Most of us were burnt enough on other forums that we're very interested in keeping a pleasant atmosphere going here.

Welcome!

Fáilte!

Always good to have another member interested in the Gaels (and broader Celts). There are a few Celtic Reconstructionists/ Celtic influenced Pagans here abouts, so you'll likely find some decent info if you ask.

Welcome, Red! I'm of English & Scottish descent as well....and I love to read and do genealogy, too! LOL I've traced three separate family lines back to the 1600s in Massachusetts. Cool stuff!

I'm Scottish on my mother's side and French on my father's side. His genealogy was traced back to some 6th century Merovingian lord but then we discovered it is all suspect because it was done by that famous genealogist con artist whose name escapes me. He was the one who happily fabricated lustrous ancestries for his well paying patrons. I was rather flattered that our family rated one.

I'm from a family of nothing. My husband, however, can list Daniel D. Tompkins, the 6th Vice President of the United States, as one of his ancestors.

So that is pretty cool.
