"Chrome dome" by choice

Post by DotNotInOz on Mon Nov 16, 2009 3:16 pm

Hubby's had shoulder-length hair for most of the fifteen years we've been together, cutting it all off only twice for important family events to please his mother.

However, he'd reached the point of a tuft just above his forehead and then "horseshoe hair," so he decided to shave his head.

Actually, *I* shaved his head cracking jokes meanwhile about being his personal Delilah.

But what a shock! If his skin were blue, he'd look exactly like the Disney Aladdin's genie...well, with glasses. I'm still doing double-takes when I see him.

Odd how accustomed we get to someone's appearance and what a shocker such a dramatic change can be.

If his skin were blue... Hysterical

You know, I know what you mean about being accustomed to appearance. I was so used to seeing my husband with a mustache that I never noticed when he shaved it off. Neither did our girls. We just took it for granted that it was there, so we "saw" it. It was Marti's best friend who noticed and brought it to our attention when she said, "Hey! Marti's dad, you look good without the mustache. Younger."
She calls us "Marti's mom" and "Marti's dad". She's not comfortable with using our first names and we're not comfortable with a child we love like our own calling us "Mr. and Mrs. N".

Okay, slight correction. Hubby read over my shoulder and said, a bit testily, "No, I don't look like the Aladdin genie. If I did, I wouldn't have shaved my head. The genie has a topknot."

Mea culpa, mea culpa, but I think he objected mostly because the genie's topknot is where he hasn't any hair anymore.

< sigh > So, I'm imprecise. He can sue me! Blow

Thankfully, he's not nearly as manic as Robin Williams' genie! There'd be no dealing with the man if he were, that's for sure.

And he really does look good with a shaved head.
