Looks like he's had a little nip, too, if you know what I mean.

The newbie was 9 weeks when we got him, the existing cat is about 9 years

I think that the older cat is trying to correct the behavior of the younger, but is a bit over zealous.

oh dear, The only time I have had trouble was with the two adult males.
However when the baby who is now two, came into our lives,

at night I would put her in a crate, when I went to bed, just to make sure the bigger ones would not accidentally hurt her.

When she was four months old I let her spend the night outside the crate and she was big enough not to worry about any more.

The crate was just big enough for a tiny litter box, a little water bowl and food. She got so use to it that when I bring a crate in the house now, she will go in and fall asleep.

Make sure your older cat get the lion share of the affection, at least when he can see the baby, so as not to be jealous.

Hope some of that made sense

Yeah, that made sense.

My wife couldn't stand his crying in his kennel. It is big enough for a litter box, and a water/food dish and a whole adult cat, so he is out at night now.

I think part of the problem now is that my wife wants to give most of the attention to the baby. She says that she makes sure Allie gets it as well, but I never see her do it. I make sure she gets a lot of attention from me.

Allie will end up being more yours then hers, but I am glad you are letting the old kitty know,.. he? is still loved.
The advice I have had, is that the newbie should not be shown as much attention while the older ones can see it.
You could put the newbie in a bathroom at night too. You'll figure it out, I have faith in you. Smile

Allie, the existing cat, is a she. Dexter, the kitten is a he. I'm already calling Dexter a mama's boy and Allie Daddies girl.

Thehy have bonded a little bit over the idea that my nce cut glass chess set that I had put up on a short shelf so that Allie could not get into it will make good toys. Dexter is short enough to fit apparently. He would bat the pieces down, Allie would then scatter them everywhere.

Sorry about the gender confusion, Smile

I am glad they have found a common cause, I am sorry it is your poor ole chess set. Razz

I don't think I was entirely clear on it.

I feel pretty much the same way too. I like to see them getting along, but couldn't they have picked something else to get along on?

Now they are budds. It's rare to find them on different levels of the house, unless it's because Dex is kenneled because we went to work.

Still, they work best together when they are preparing some sort of torment for their evil human oppressors,
