Isn't that because Disney just bought it?

What do you think the Xmen were?

And the world mourns the loss of an iconic comic book company.

Don't worry though, Steve Roger's isn't dead, he's just unstuck in time...

GOD CORP has struck again

To be fair, Disney corp owns a rather vast assortment of entertainment companies, who do produce edgy and offensive films, Miramax comes to mind. I doubt that other than the possibility of tie in's (i.e. some children's lines) that the aquisistion will effect the editorial/ content of the major lines of Marvel comics. DC (or rather their more marketable properties) have been under the wing of Warner Brothers with no noticble changes to characters, themes, etc.

The difference is that they try to promote a non-evil image.

Well... Look at how Walt and Co. watered down the Grimms...

I heard they went after this deal because now they can go after the Little Boys.
They got the market cornered on the Fairy Princesses with the Little Girls.

or it just gives those perverse Artists some more T&A to drool over... Twisted Evil

Remember all the contraversy over the Little Mermaid and the Castle.

I don't think Uncle Walt was Evil... his benign kingdom was subverted by wicked counselors like Michael Eisner.

Except you've got it backward, mostly...

The phalic parapets in "The Little Mermaid", Sex in the dandelion seeds in "The Lion King" and the spliced frame of Nudity in "The Rescuers" is not some conspiracy propagated by Disney to harm the innocents, rather they are small acts of defiance by frustrated artists who have no creative control over their work. It is sticking it to the heavily controlled overseers at Disney studios during the period in the 1970's to 1990's. Again I doubt there will be any sort of changes going on as far as core properties go, other than some additional childrens lines... Again Warner has been in control of numerous DC properties, and frankly if the results are shows like Batman, Justice Leauge and JLU, I'll not be complaining.

A "wholesome family image"... why would a company which built its wealth on children's programing and media want that?

Besides, "EVERYONE" knows that Disney is evil, it is one of the oldest juxtaposistions in the history of media.

It just grates that Disney has my beloved Stan Lee by the short hairs.

Except for the 7.8 Billion dollar payout, right? This is hardly a hostile takeover...

I said Stan Lee. Not Marvel. I realize that the two are pretty synonymous, since he and the late, great Jack Kirby made Marvel what it is today, but they weren't the ones in charge of Marvel all that time, and Marvel actually owns most of Lee's creations, meaning that he has to go along with a lot of this, no matter how he feels about it. And I honestly don't know how he feels about it. But that 7.8 Billion didn't go into Lee's pocket. His creativity was just another commodity in the whole thing.
