What would Jesus NOT do?

Post by Daldianus on Mon Aug 17, 2009 3:33 pm

Good points in that video.

Yeah, why didn't Jesus teach people, for example, about how to minimize the risk of infections and a lot of illnesses by explaining them that they get transmitted by viruses and bacteria which could be avoided by raising the hygienic standard? That would have been better than foolishly referring to 'demons' and 'possessions' and the like ...

And why only heal a limited number of people in a limited area at a certain time in history?

Wow, . . . . that really IS a good thought. If asked in a christian forum, I would bet that the answer would be something along the lines of "this world isn't the issue, but the eternal destination of the soul". However, how much better would it be as "a witnessing tool" to say to someone, "God loves you, and highly suggests that you follow these steps of proper cleanliness, and it will save you a lot of trouble down the road."

That is one of the sadest things I see in some forms of CHristinaity, the sole focus on an after life. We would not be in this life if it were not important, That is a cop out.

You are right Deavon, and it would make there god look much more caring to give us things that help us live this life healthy and happy.

Yeah, christianity would have dominated if its leader really did something to improve the livelyhood of those who started following the advice given. Instead, you have things like, "cut off your hand if it offends you because it is better to enter into heaven with one hand then have both and go to hell". confused

A GREAT opportunity was lost, . . . . . . IF the god of the bible was the one true god.

Yes, that's a very stupid command! And it shows Jesus' ignorance about how the body and the mind works.

The Bible says Jesus is God and sits at the right hand of God, which is some trick in itself, but how can you die and still be alive and planning to return? Where is the sacrifice?

Dunno ... The whole concept makes no sense whatsoever.

I asked that question both on BeliefCorner and BeliefNet. I never got a real answer. Only weaseling around. I wasn't surprised though.

Very Happy I've tried that On the Bnet Xian board. It was interesting until wingnuts like madhorseman arrived and took what was the typical Xistian/non-Xian debate into the Twilight Zone. Ask Celsus about him.

This is what I have, so far:

Simply because GOD has decided that death/blood is required for payment of sin.
Its His board and His rules. We either accept it or we dont.

The sacrifice is that God himself took on the sin of the world so that we could be redeemed.

Good arguments! And they make so much sense! Wink

Sarcasm detected. Wink

The guy who makes those videos has some intersting thoughts. I've looked at most of his videos now. Some quite amusing!

If I recall correctly, I've commented on both quotes in other threads. Much as I love repeating myself, my arthritis is aggravating my fingers today so I'll pass for a change. Very Happy
