Kitty Surgery

Post by TigersEyeDowsing on Fri Apr 03, 2009 3:07 pm

My kitty is doing well in the aftermath of his surgery. He swallowed my headphones (about a foot of copper wire) and is slowly passing the 15 smaller pieces, and we removed the two larger pieces that were stuck in his intestine. He came to jump on my lap to love on me while I write this. He can have his stitches out in 8 more days!

He's such a chewer! Only when he gets angry at me... but two phone cords, my digital camera USB cable and now this. Urgh. No

Your kitty has some issues!

Glad he's gonna be all right. It's scary when our fur babies get sick.

OH Tiger, Time to baby proof the house? I have a chewer, she bit through the weed whacker charger cord, now the whacker does not whack but fortunately she did not swallow it. I was afraid she would electrocute herself, but since she has grown up a little she is being more well behaved.

Never occurred to me she might swallow the wire. I am s,o so glad your baby is getting better.

Fur babies are very important

Tiger -

It's time to go out and purchase the hottest hot sauce you can find and rub it on anything you think an animal will chew on... If that doesn't deter an animal, I do know of another (more drastic) trick. But try this first. And keep rubbing the hot sauce where-ever it is needed for the next 6 weeks, that is considered ample training time.

Glad to hear your cat is doing well.

Wow, Tiger, I had no idea. Glad the little beastie is alright. They can do some strange things.

Did the hot sauce work? I don't have any chewers but it is good info to know.

I haven't had to use it! He only does things very misbehaving when he's angry, and since he's moved in with 3 other kitties and my roomate he hasn't been angry (he gets all the attention he needs).

During this incident he used to come to work with me every night rather than stay alone, and some nights I just wanted to be childless and so I left him alone...which is when he'd do these things.

That makes sense. He is a social little fellow and was feeling lost and deprived. What better way to express that than to destroy your things. You weren't there to cuddle him and he got pissed about it.

My family had a bird dog like that. He would get angry with my dad, Mike was his dog, then eat something. It was always something of dad's. Once he ate dad's side of a bed spread. He left mom's side alone.

If anyone wants to try the hot sauce trick, be sure to put it on the item every day for six weeks.

And, like I said, if that doesn't work - I do know a more drastic trick. A last resort.
