Shamanism?

Post by TaoOfTheRaven on Fri Nov 26, 2010 12:59 pm

Anyone know much about shamanism, specifically NA beliefs?

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Other than having read most of Carlos Castaneda's stuff yeeeeaaaars ago, naw, sure don't.

I wouldn't malign CC's books as akin to The Secret, but I suspect there's a lot better stuff out there now. Back when I first got into his works, that was about all there was in standard bookstores. The selection of such things has gone from famine to feast without a doubt.

After seeming to damn with faint praise, I'd honestly say Castaneda's mentor had some good ideas--Don Juan, I think his name was.

Right. I've got Carlos' books on pdf and a radio interview done with him. I'll have to look around. Thanks anyway. Smile

JumboJava of B'net fame. I could give her a holler and see if she could come take a look. I might be remembering wrongly, though. Have to see what she says.

I don't think she has been hanging on B'net lately, so I will send her a facebook message and see what she says.

Someone rang? Wink

Shamanism to me has a wide range of views. As also is NA beliefs. (There are over 500 Federally recognized tribes.)

So, as such I cannot say I am in any way an expert on Shamanism or NA beliefs. I can only relate to you my path and some of my experiences.

There are tons of books out there on Shamanism and on NA beliefs. About the only thing I can recommend to y'all is read all you want, ask folks whos who follow these various paths. Listen. Share.

Then take it all and chuck it over your shoulder.

And start walking.

Find your path. Find out what sings true in your heart.

Discover what works for you.

Each of us is unique. Each of us has our own unique, one of a kind and sacred connection to the Divine. You are born with this connection. You are born with a uniquely sacred song in your heart.

Each of us is preciosus, unique, one of a kind. Each of us is Sacred.

It is up to each of us to find our voice, find our song and sing it.

We can share what each of us has found on our own unique path, we can share of our Truths. Yet only YOU can find YOUR Truth.

That is the way of any Peacefull Warrior, of any Path.

So, start walking. Enjoy it. Find what beauties and truths are there for you.

This is how I try to life my path. I cannot walk yours nor you mine. But we can walk side by side and share what sings in our hearts.

And it is this sharing that makes such a wonderful chorus. This is what makes the Divine sing when we sing together. Smile

Enjoy!.

Beautifully said, JJ!! I like the concept of walking side by side on our own paths.

Really beautifully said Jumbo Java.

I volunteered with the Sierra Foothills Conservancy for one of their events last year. A local NA also volunteered to guide a hike - doing so he shared history about his tribe; how they lived and why and what local plants they used for food, cleansing, healing etc. In walking and chatting with his wife, I learned more about their tribe than any book could share.

In short, volunteering in local wildlife preservation societies can be a fantastic way to meet, talk & walk with authentic NA folk.

Peace.
