Certain religions and political positions were deemed unassailable, in favor of the very conservative Christian portion of the boards. And it wasn't "kosher" to criticize the 12-step program. (I have several objections, on moral and legal grounds, to the program and the way it's pushed in the justice system.) It went from open and welcoming to cliquish and very, very... cold. I haven't been back in ages, though I'm tempted to go look.

Hey, Kitty, I just saw this. Want to start a thread on the problems with the 12 step system? It would probably be an interesting discussion.

What a wonderful idea -- I'll come back to this after a night's sleep, though.

What's Timmy doing now? When I left the discussion, he was convinced that my continued participation in it was evidence of my hanging on his every word. The only evidence he would take to the contrary is if I ignored the discussion, so I left, and never came back.

It was like pounding my head against a wall before, has it changed any?

Usually I can discuss with a partially reasonable person.

Timmy is crazy though. He's a narcissist with a Messianic complex. He'll take the fact that you are still discussing with him as proof that you are hanging on his every word.

I predict that when Jan 1 rolls around, he will say those discussing with him are his followers, so as not to burst his bubble.

Cap and I have been discussing the Fae on his thread, mostly to tweak his nose. He's been accusing me of belief in the Fae, though I have decided to take the fifth on that one, again, to tweak his nose.
He seems to believe if to talk about a topic, you believe in it wholeheartedly. I am thinking that by that line of thought, I must believe in some pretty wacky stuff, mostly contradictory.

I mentioned a "Spirit board" in one of my first posts and he thinks I call my Gods through it...
I'm with you on trying to correct him...
