Wait! I thought it was Brigham Young...???

LOL Waste of time to discuss Messiahs... They are like assholes, everybody has one, and no one wants to hear from anyone else's.

Me neither.

Largely useless concept serving primarily to keep clergyfolk and churches in business, IMO.

Myths are literal Dave, but they are also allegorical. At the same time. Often they are layered. With levels and levels of literal, and allegory, meaning different things to different people.

What is important is not necessarily what they meant, the people who wrote them are long dead, but what we take from them.

I think both are important especially in Christianity where our myths are reinforced by rituals and sayings

Immersion is supposed to be a word picture of passing from death into the Life of Christ's ressurrection
-the Lord's Supper is a remembering of His death and suffering
We are told to pick up our cross and walk towrds our execution in the manner which Jesus did before us

In a funny way, Michael is almost right, in a Biblical sense. The archangel Michael is prominent in the OT apocalypitics and the minor prophets as a protector spirit/ guardian Angel of the Nation of Israel.
Michael is even called an annointed one; but then again so was Cyrus the Mede.

Honestly, I think it is important to remember, regardless of what path one follows.

I think if I agreed with you on this point, me not being a Christian, it would sound like I was bashing. Very Happy
