Which famous author...

Post by DotNotInOz on Wed Aug 04, 2010 2:58 pm

...is your writing most like?

This is a kind of fun website which compares your writing style to that of fifty famous authors and tells you which one you write like.

You just paste in a few representative paragraphs of your writing.

I'm H.P. Lovecraft. How about you?

It said I write like James Joyce. When I took off the last very short sentence it said I wrote like Charles Dickens.

Mary Shelly: an author noted for forceful and passionate fantasy, whom critics thought mad. Cool. I write like an insane Romantic chick......'nuff said.

Yeah, well, critics of her time probably were reacting to the fact that a woman wasn't writing nicey-nice little stories mommies could read to their wee ones at bedtime.

I put in the full text, and it called it Raymond Chandler.

Whatever.

Chandler rocks! I devoured his noir stuff while at Douglas College. It was the reading Chandler and watching Bogart that kept me from going postal on the campus anti-anything-that-works crowd.

I'm told I write like David Foster Wallace, which is really funny because the snippet I used contained a few lines by T.S. Elliot - LOL!

There's something you and T.S. Eliot have in common then, Sakhaiva. You BOTH write like David F. Wallace...whoever he is. Never heard of the guy myself.

Ok, I took a chance and entered a short humorous piece I wrote a few years ago and the site came up with Edgar Allan Poe. Should I question the site or my sense of humor?
