Chat Open

Post by TigersEyeDowsing on Mon Sep 21, 2009 2:36 am

Regarding the chat on the homepage:

At the request of certain members, a chatbox has been installed on the
homepage of YourSpirituality.net. This is a very simple chatbox that
allows you to click "log in" at the top and participate in real-time
chat with other users. If you wish to continue posting on the forum
boards, you'll need to open a new browser window and do so there,
leaving the chat page open to prevent being disconnected.

The one thing that concerns me about the chat feature is the opportunity to
say harsh things to one another regarding the ongoing debates in the
forums. So I am going to respectfully stress that the point of this
chat box is for social conversation, NOT debate. Please, please, keep
the debate in the forums where it belongs. If you feel unable to do so,
please refrain from logging into the chat. If the chat box becomes
abused, administrators have the power to kick and ban a member from
participating, and take away the chat altogether. Let's keep it fun.

If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with an administrator.

Some Chat Commands:

/me In the beginning of a sentence, this command will be replaced by your username (ex: /me eats a delicious pizza" will display "Nickname eats a delicious pizza")

/exit Disconnect from the Chatbox. You can also precise the reason that will be visible for all members connected (ex:
/exit reason)

/abs Send a message noticing that you're absent. You can add a reason that will be displayed in the message and visible
by all members connected to the Chatbox (ex: /abs reason)

Okay, this explains a whole lot. I need to swing by more. TED, I got incredibly confused when I saw this, this morning.

This should be interesting. I have a Mac and maybe it shows up differently in Safari but it isn't obvious how to post. It's a leetle bitty 1/2 line down at the bottom of the chat box.
